Report From Last AGMBack in the 1970s and early 80s the primary service provided was strictly information and referral. We could tell you what organization could assist you with your particular problem and in your particular location. Gradually due to increasing demands for service and the fact that there was nowhere to send people who needed help with filling out their forms we began providing this service along with certification of documents. In the early 1990s we added the writing of affidavits to the enable us to ensure that clients received the services that they were entitled to. These same number of staff are now also providing, assistance with applications for Canada Pension Retirement, Old Age, Child Tax, Foreign Pensions, Sponsorships, Refugee Applications, Income tax, Canada Pension Disability, Passports, Birth registrations , Death certificates, Spouses Allowance, Survivors, Ontario Disability, Childrens Services for Disabled Child, Family Responsibility, Small Claims and many more. Staff also provide informal counseling and support, crisis intervention and advocacy for clients. Due to the increasing number of client requests and the increasing complex nature of their situations services have changed from a drop in service to one that requires an appointment. The Access department has always tried to anticipate the emerging needs of this community and be ready with the services to assist and respond appropriately. In 2005 the Access Department; Assisted 5111 individuals and families with information and referral to much needed programs and services Assisted 2156 individuals and families with filling out essential forms Assisted 1331 individuals fill out their Income Tax forms Advocated for 3475 clients to obtain, maintain their income or essential service Services provided
